Use Of Apostrophe

 1. Apostrophe ( ' ) (a) -It is used with 's' to indicate that a person or a thing that belongs to somebody. Rohan's school (रोहन का स्कूल)  Children's school (बच्चों का स्कूल) Ravi's house (रवी का घर)  (b)  -Apostrophe without 's' is used in case of Plural Nouns and Proper Nouns ending with 's' . The boys' college. ( लड़कों का college)  The girls' college. Homonyms,Acronyms and Homophones

Confusion is often caused in understanding the meaning of certain words because they are either similar in meaning and form or similar in their sound of pronunciation.  Homonyms are similar in their sound or pronunciation but different in meaning. उच्चारण में समान परंतु वर्तनी और अर्थ में भिन्न शब्द Homonyms कहलाते हैं| For example - 'Bank' (= river bank) and,                         'Bank'(= place where money is kept)  Acronym- A short word that is made from the first letters of a group of words. किसी शब्द समूह के पहले अक्षरों से बना छोटा शब्द Acronym कहलाता है| For example -AIDS is an acronym of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.  IAF is an acronym of Indian Air Force.  Homophone - A word that has same pronunciation like another word but has a different spelling or meaning. ऐसे शब्द जिनके उच्चारण में समानता हो परन्तु वर्तनी और अर्थ में भिन्नता हों Homophones कहलाते हैं| For example - some and sum. f...
